Dental Restorations
Following restoration of primary (milk) or permanent teeth, children may express some discomfort on biting. This is normal as it can take 2-5 days for your child to get used to the tooth new surface contour. Younger children may express this discomfort as pain. Should your child experience discomfort following a filling, we advise that you give them one dose of analgesia, whatever your child is normally used to when they suffer a cold. If your child continues to have discomfort for more than 2-5 days or should their sleeping be disturbed due to discomfort from the tooth, we advise that you contact us for further advice.
For children who have had a stainless steel crown placed, their bite may feel different or the crown may feel high on the bite for 2-3 days following treatment. The mouth will adjust to the height of tooth soon after placement of the crown and the bite should return to normal within 3-5 days.
